Gestational surrogacy is currently banned in Singapore but there is promise that the legislature will permit it with certain guidelines:
The review and approval of gestational surrogacy will occur on a case-by-case basis;
Gestational carriers will have to be married with children;
Foreign women will be prohibited from acting as gestational surrogates, except for close relatives of the recipient couple;
Reimbursement for gestational surrogates will not exceed direct expenses;
Medical professionals will be prohibited from surrogate recruitment and reimbursement;
A prospective recipient couple must accept the child, even if it is born with congenital deformities;
Egg donation to the recipient couple will be strictly reviewed.
